Our department is divided into two sections: a Junior and Senior Department. While they each serve specialized roles on emergency scenes, they work together to mitigate situations. Our Senior Department consists Mountain Lakes Residents of both male and female members over the age of 18 – with no maximum age. To become a member, we require no prior experience – all training and equipment are provided at no cost!
The Senior Department typically trains twice a month on Tuesday evenings, around 8:00 PM. Tuesdays are divided into two ways, one night being a drill, the other being a meeting. Seniors train on various drills, including fire suppression, driver/pump operations, ice rescue, vehicle extrication, and several other core tasks.
However, contrary to popular belief, not every member has to go into the “burning building,” rather, we have administrative, leadership, and driver positions, which don’t revolve around physical duties. These positions are equally crucial to the success of our department!
Membership is a time commitment, however, we feel that as volunteers, we have the ability to make an impact on the community we call home, which is exciting and rewarding. Even if you are not 100% certain about the commitment, we encourage you to reach out and explore more about how you too can make an impact.
