Mitchell Stern
Mitchell comes to Mountain Lakes with 31 years of local government service; his most recent positions include Chief of Police and interim Township Manager.
Mitchell holds a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a MPA from Rutger’s University. Additionally, he is a graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. Mitchell is also a Leadership NJ Fellow, a graduate of the NJ Certified Public Manager program, and carries the designation of Accredited Chief Executive with the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Mitchell Stern is past President of the Certified Public Manager Society of New Jersey, and a past Chair of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers. Along with these organizations, he is also a member of the International City/County Management Association, the New Jersey Municipal Managers Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Association of Chiefs of Police of Essex County.
