On this evening, we’ll be treated to powerful telescopic views of a waxing gibbous moon and the largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter, and its moons! The International Space Station passes overhead from west to east at about 8:30 pm, a wonderful sight in binoculars. Later, we’ll view the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades, Hyades and Perseus star clusters, and perhaps glimpse the planet Uranus. Join us for this exciting and educational night under the stars! This event is one of two major fundraiser events for the Town Club to fund grants that are awarded annually to area service and education organizations that in the past have included: Arms Around Morris County, Family Promise of Morris County, Lake Drive Foundation Sound Start Babies, Lakeland Hills YMCA, North Porch Women’s & Infants Center, Jersey Battered Women’s Services, youth sports clubs, ML Schools and Public Library, the ML and Boonton Township Fire and Police Depts., and many more. Art at the Esplanade—Sunday, June 2nd
Mountain Lakes will host its 2nd annual open-air art show on Sunday, June 2nd from 11am – 5 pm at the base of Esplanade Park on Elm Street (just across the train tracks from The Station restaurant). Visitors will stroll the tree-lined heart of the borough, where more than 55 emerging artists will feature original paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, photography, and more. All art will be available for sale. Art at the Esplanade will also feature children’s art activities coordinated by the Mountain Lakes Library. And once again, musicians from Bach to Rock in Denville will fill the air with music. The event has attracted the generous sponsorship of the Roberts Fund of the Mountain Lakes Library, whose goal is to encourage a culture of art appreciation throughout the community.
