Beginning January 1, 2026, the Borough will transition to a new trash and recycling collection vendor. This change follows the expiration of our current multi-year contract on December 31, 2025, and a formal rebid process that recently concluded.

As part of that rebid process, the Borough received two bids—the first time in recent history that more than one bid was submitted for the Borough’s solid waste collection. The lowest responsible bid – submitted by B&B Disposal, LLC – was substantially lower than the other proposal, resulting in significant savings:
·     More than $1.3 million in savings for the Borough over the five-year contract term, and

·     More than $400,000 in savings for the Board of Education over the same five-year term.

Along with cost savings, the new contract specifies updated collection procedures that will take effect in 2026.

Weekly trash & recycling: new 5-day route system

·        Trash and recycling collection will remain as a home-side pickup service.

·     Collection will move to a five-day-per-week (Monday–Friday) boroughwide schedule.

·     Pickup days will correspond with your voting district. You can find your voting district HERE.

·     District / Pickup days:

·     District 1 – Monday

·     District 2 – Tuesday

·     District 3 – Wednesday

·     District 4 – Thursday

·     District 5 – Friday

·     How trash and recycling collection will work on your route day: B&B Disposal will complete trash pickup for the entire route first and will then return along the same route later in the day to collect recycling.

·     Trash and recycling should be placed out for collection no later than 7:00 am.

Quarterly Bulk Pickup: NEW SCHEDULE

Bulk pickup will occur during the following scheduled weeks/dates:

·     January 12-16, 2026

·     April 13–17, 2026

·     July 13–17, 2026

·     October 12–16, 2026

·     During these weeks, bulk items will be collected ON THE SAME DAY as your regular trash & recycling collection. NOTE: bulk trash needs to be brought curbside for collection, while your regular trash & recycling collection remains a home-side service.

Holiday collection schedule (2026)

When your regular collection day falls on the following holidays, service will occur the next day:

·     New Year’s Day 2026 (01/01/26): collected Friday, 01/02/26

·     Memorial Day 2026 (05/25/26): collected Tuesday, 05/26/26

·     Labor Day 2026 (09/07/26): collected Tuesday, 09/08/26

·     Thanksgiving 2026 (11/26/26): collected Friday, 11/27/26

·     Christmas 2026 (12/25/26): collected Saturday, 12/26/26
