single-handed relay notes
1.
This is a wonderful game for beginners. Kids enjoy cheering for
their teams members and often shout instructions to their boat which
helps the skipper learn/
2.It
is vital that the rule about not going in the water more than waist
deep be enforced. A child too deep in the water may not be able to
get out of the way of a boat approaching shore.
3.Be sure to tell the kids whether to round the mark to starboard or to port or either way.
4.It is useful to assign or elect a team captain for each team, who then determines which kids participate in what order and help to direct the transfer of skippers.
